This DVD actually takes off where the Crash Course in Classic Rock left off and is packed with information designed give beginners the tools they need to get started playing lead licks, but also to begin to understand the theory and techniques behind the great leads from many classic rock songs. The Crash Course covers the entry level basics necessary for electric guitar in general and for getting the most out of the VGL Classic Songs Series. This Leads introductory Volume 1 is designed to focus soley on lead scales and techniques which will allow the newer lead player to get the most out of the lead demos in the VGL series. It is the first part of a series of lead DVD's designed with the newer electric lead player in mind but with enough important content to also be helpful to more intermediate players as well. This DVD covers the Pentatonic scale as the basic rock form and explains its use as both an outline and function in both Major and Minor keys. While the VGL series concentrates on the SONG first and demo's leads as a part of learning the songs, this lead series focus is on LEAD playing theory and technique but uses leads and riffs as examples from well-known songs to demonstrate the ideas covered.
