Description: Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band Express Yourself Warner Bros. Records – WS 1864 - 1970 (Santa Maria Pressing)A masterpiece of LA funk and the best Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band album. Most songs are open jams that run on for longer than usual with some good trippy instrumental moments that really stretch out the groove from their funky 45 days. The album includes the stoner funk classic “High As Apple Pie“, done here in two “slices”, plus the classic “Express Yourself“, a monster song that still sounds great every time you hear it. tons of samples on this record, some famous and some still untouched.Santa Maria pressings are often being considered slightly higher quality due to newer equipment at the time.A1 Love Land 3:04A2 I Got Love 3:37A3 High As Apple Pie - Slice I 6:03A4 Express Yourself 3:50B1 I'm Aware 3:45B2 High As Apple Pie - Slice II 17:43 COVER: VG. I am giving this cover a VG rating because it has some flaws. The bottom left corner is cut and the top seam has a 3" split near the opening, but it's not noticeable from the front. Overall cover is in amazing shape for being over 50 years old. VINYL: VG+. Plays clean with no warping or skips and very few ticks or sounds. I can see a couple slight scuffs or fingerprints but none of them affect play. Plays loud and sounds great! Listen to the vid. I am very picky with my grading and I really try to price the records so we both feel satisfied. If you feel I missed the mark on the grading of a record you purchased, please reach out to me. I am selling a very large personal collection and look over a ton of vinyl everyday. Here are my standards for grading records: Near Mint Minus (NM or NM-) This is almost a perfect, brand new record and the vinyl will play perfectly. The cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other defects. The same goes for inserts, posters, lyric sheets, sleeves, etc.Excellent (EX) This record will show some signs that it has been played but taken care of, protected, and correctly stored by previous owners. Defects should be cosmetic and not affect the playback. Record surfaces may show signs of wear, slight scuffs, or very light scratches, but these shouldn't distract from or affect one's listening experience. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Small spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a promo hole, cut-out hole, notch cut, indentation, or cut corner. Very Good Plus (VG+) This record is still high quality in my collection. You may hear slight surface noise, subtle pops, and ticks when playing, but these sounds should only add to the warm analog feeling and not overpower the music otherwise. Scuffs or light scratches may be noticeable, but they shouldn't cause skips during playback. The cover or label may have writing, marks, or stickers. But I think these just add to overall mystique of the record's history.
