Description: From John Stanley Antique Tools -WOW!! What a super decorator item. This is only the second one of these unique cant dogs we have ever had the opportunity to find. Used on a Maine log drive here on the Penobscot river, this was lost in the river by the river driver many years ago. When these were lost in the water, the weight of the metal end caused these to sink and the buoyance of the wood caused them to stay in the upright position under water. After many years of submersion and general erosion it took on this look that only Mother Nature working hand in hand with Father time could produce. After years of spring runoffs and ice outs this eventually made its way to the shore where it was found. Measures 39" long. This will look as nice in your collection as it does in ours.
