STANDLEE", in the town of DELANO, CALIFORNIA THIS IS A SCARCE MERCHANT, AND IN FIRST BOOK IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST BOOKING TOKEN FROM TOWN..THIS IS A TOUGHIE TO FIND....OF COURSE EX-LERCH COLLECTION Like many California towns over the years…this town has really grown…but if you look under "DELANO" in the California token book…there are very few listings….Why you say would a town today with 58,000 people today have only a few token listings……..well, one reason might be THE POPULATION OF DELANO IN 1900 WAS 119 PEOPLE….yes, in the day of this token, Delano was a tiny little town…grew to 800 people by 1915. The town of Delano is located in Kern County California…sort of west of Sierra Nevada Mountains, Sequoia National Park near towns of Earlimart, Visalia and McFarland Ca. This is a tougher town to find old tokens from. This token is listed in the original California token book (Kappen) under town of DELANO as K7 and this is a very nice uncleaned specimen. Trade token is brass metal, round, 21mm, and it displays nicely. (please see pictures in gallery) Has not been cleaned. Natural toning intact, Natural patina intact Gallery pictures should show you all you need to know. While many California trade tokens can be in "dug" condition, this is a nice "problem free" token.
