He played college football for the Baylor Bears. In 2007, Whitaker led the Bears for most rushing yards and most catches, recording 533 yards and two touchdowns on 102 carries and 425 yards and three touchdowns on 58 receptions, In 2006, he registered 188 yards and one touchdown on 41 carries and 192 yards and one touchdown on 30 catches. Coming into the 2011 season, Brandon Whitaker had two seasons under his belt as an understudy to Avon Cobourne, who was Montreal’s primary back for the last three seasons before being acquired by Hamilton in the 2011 offseason.
