Condition The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.Biography Samuel Gillespie Prout (1822-1911) was the youngest son of artist Samuel Prout (1783 - 1852). Samuel Gillespie Prout intended to follow the family profession of artist and his style was heavily influenced by his father's work. Prout made a tour of France in 1846 and made many attempts to earn a living as a private tutor and drawing teacher. In his later life he focused more on charitable work, until his death in 1911.
