Description: Tressemanes & Vogt of Limoges were known since the late 1800’s for their skill in hand-painting intricate details to adorn and add opulence to blank porcelain pieces made by other Limoges manufacturers. The florals, insects, and leafy motifs of this very ornate set are in raised and textured gold, and the rims, handle, and feet are covered in a plain but heavier gold. Both pieces have unique scalloped edges in the rococo/baroque style. Measurements are: the cup is 6.9 cm. (2-3/4 in.) at the widest diameter without the handle, 8.7 cm. (3-3/8 in.) wide including the handle, and 5.1 cm. (2 in.) high including the little feet. The saucer is 11 cm. (4-3/8 in.) diameter at the widest and 1.9 cm. (3/4 in.) high. The red and green hallmarks date this piece from 1892 – 1917. There is some gold loss especially on the handle, the bottom of the feet and the cup’s inside rim, but there are no chips, crazing, cracks, or scratches, and the pieces have never been repaired or touched up. The porcelain is so light and delicate that it is amazing how, even after over 100 years, it is still in such good condition. I have tried to show the exact condition of these pieces, including any and all blemishes, as well as under different light conditions so please look at all photos as they are part of the description.
