Description: Before we all became spoiled in the 20th century, it was a simpler time. And my uncle got this stereoscope for his 8th birthday which makes it at least 112 years old today. The stereoscope is in good condition although some blemishes from age can be seen primarily on the metal parts. The lenses are in good condition as is the wood and mechanical hardware. Included is a stereoscopic card and this one is of the "Fort of St. Jean and Cathedral, Marseilles, France." What an 8-year old kind would care about seeing that I can't imagine however...like I said...it was a simpler time and maybe seeing a 3-Dimensional view of a picture was thrill enough and it didn't matter what it was. Actually, in many ways I envy him. Beauty so often is simple. The stereoscope will be packed carefully and considerately.
