Description: Antique 19c French Porcelain Edme Samson Figural Group Figural group of a couple seated under a tree with bird and birdcage. This is an original 19th century porcelain group by the French porcelain company Edme Samson. The company was started in 1845 and reproduced high quality German pieces such as Meissen and Chelsea wares. The pieces were so well done, many cannot decipher the difference between a German Meissen piece or a French Samson piece. Incredibly, this figural is in overall great condition, no losses to fingers or the bird, which is often the case with figurines that are well over a 100 years old. This piece was most likely produced between 1880 -1890. It’s a very nice size measuring 12” tall to the tree and 9” wide. As you can see the hand painted faces are finely done, the clothing and every detail. The only minor damage are some chips or missing leaves to the tree. Marked on the bottom base with the old blue crossed swords with S for Samson. Please note I specialize in German or French porcelains frequently, and the item will be packed well!
