Description: Antique porcelain covered box, designed to contain matches and to help with the lighting of matches by providing a striker (ridged area) in the inside of the porcelain lid. The lid is decorated with cherubs playing music. Circa 1910-1920s, this piece of social history would still look great on any dresser.Measurements: 4 1/2" long by 2 1/2" wide by 2" tall ( including cover). Condition Notes:There are two or three chips under the cover and some fading on the gilding. There are a few age marks particularly on the bottom and there is one yellow stain on the side of the box. There is a little dirt which is hard to get to on the striker which is inside the cover.There may be light surface wear proportional to the item's age.
