Description: The prototype of the snuff bottle in China was the medicine bottle, such as this fine Qing dynasty porcelain example. Some were repurposed as snuff bottles. This fine old bottle features calligraphy on both sides (possibly the name of the contents, or of the shop) and wax Antiquity Administration seal (which I think means it's over 150 years old). Some snuff residue inside, no stopper as found. 2.9" tall. Reference: Raymond Li: The Medicine Snuff Bottle Connection: Chinese Miniature Containers, a Dual Role (1979).
