Missing the number, I am not certain exactly what part of American history this was meant to punctuate. **NOTE - The wood is split. BOTHERHOOD OF THE UNION: The Brotherhood Of the Union was founded by George Lippard - a striking young idealist writer in Philadelphia in 1849. The Brotherhood was a pro worker, social justice, land reform 'secret' organization with ties to the anti slavery movement ~ some chapters welcomed black members. Lippard died at the young age of 32 from either pneumonia or tuberculosis. Membership grew even after his death and the last chapter existed until 1994.
