Description: Outstanding Two Bottle Tantalus / Lockable Liquor Frame By John Grinsell & SonsDescription A fabulous antique English 3 bottle tantalus by John Grinsell and Sons of Birmingham dating to around 1890 / 1900. These were advertised by Grinsell as "Lock-Up Liquor Frames" with showrooms in London and Glasgow. The 3 glass decanters are not original but lovely and classic. The frame is made from silver plate and marked on the side (cupid into a shield) and the number 380. The barrel lock is pressed down to release the bar to the top, pushed to the back allowing the 3 decanters to be accessed. The key is missing.A Monogram S and M interlocked is on the base on both sides. Dating to the late Victorian era, c.1890/1900, it remains in good condition. Scratches in interior of lid but unseen when closed. The frame measures 15 1/4" x 7 " x 13 1/4" tall to top of handle. Each bottle measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and 8 3/4" tall. I did not polish it but it can be brought up to a lovely shine.Weight without decanters is 8 lbs 3.9 ounces on my home scaleWeight of each decanter is 3 pounds 6 ounces on my home scale
