Anthurium pohlianum is an interesting dwarf branch epiphyte from western Ecuador and northwestern Perú that is tolerant of dry conditions. This is a suitable species for growing on columnar cacti and dry forest-origin trees outdoors in freeze-free areas of Florida and coastal California. Most collections of A. pohlianum originate from low elevations; this one is grown from an accession made from Piura Province, Perú and was collected in near desert conditions growing in near full sun light conditions. This species self-sets small white berries, so an easy species to propagate from seed although slow growing when young. For those interested in mixing stem succulents and orchids from dry forests with epiphytic aroids, this is one of the best species for garden projects where the plants are sheltered from wind.
