Description: This great ale pitcher was made by Royal Doulton sometime in the early 1900s. It's known as motto ware and is very collectible. The motto on this pitcher reads: Take Fortune as you find herand if she frown don't youA smile will oft recall herand make her kind and true Made of stoneware it is Medieval Art Nouveau in style. The middle portion with the words is a light brown color and the top and bottoms have a brown-on-brown design of leaves and vines. This design is exceptionally elegant and really gives this pitcher a wonderful look. It stands about 8" tall and is close to 5 1/2" in diameter at its widest point.
