The back has cork to protect your furniture. These coasters are fairly absorbent and can be cleaned with soap and water and air dried. The designs are printed, in color, on the coaster but some of the color from the wood itself will show through and some wood grain will also be visible on the printed design. I try to show the closest color to the actual printed coaster as possible, but due to monitor differences and the difference between viewing on a computer screen and printer on the wood, there will be color variations. Because they are printed on wood the colors are more muted than when printed on other kinds of coasters.
