These pieces belonged to Dave Powers, a close friend and trusted aide to President Kennedy who served as Special Assistant to the President from 1961 to 1963. Mr. Powers played a pivotal role in the creation of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, serving as its inaugural curator from its opening in 1979 until his retirement in 1994. In 1971,Dave Powers gifted these three remarkable pieces to Hal O’Brien. A letter is included from Dave Powers to Hal O'brien in which Mr. Powers thanks Mr O'brien for his help with "DJ'. This letter accompanied the gifts at the time Mr. O'brien received them from Dave Powers. 1. Robbins Presidential 3 piece jewelry set The set consists of a pair of cufflinks, tie/lapel pin, and tie bar.The jewelry set was manufactured by Robbins Co in Attleboro MA which produced jewelry for the Kennedy White House. Each of the pieces is stamped with the Robins Co hallmark and 1/10th 10K (gold filled) This three piece set was unique to the Kennedy White House and was not made for Lyndon Johnson. The grayish blue box stamped Robbins Company was one of the presentation boxes used for Kennedy items. This box was not used for the Lyndon Johnson pieces. 2. Leather bound Presidential VIP gift version of President Kennedy's famous book Profiles in Courage. This rare blue leather-bound limited edition printing of Profiles in Courage, featuring gilt-edged pages and a gold-embossed Presidential Seal, was created as a special gift by President John F. Kennedy for family, close friends, supporters, and vips upon his 1961 inauguration. This is an extremely rare piece the printing was limited to only a few hundred. Dave Powers has inscribed the book to Hal O'brien (Dave powers removed the cover page which stated the book was from President John F Kennedy). 3. Glass John F Kennedy inaugural Invitation This beautiful smoked glass inaugural invitation was presented by President John F Kennedy to family, close friends, Vips and supporters. The invitation would be personalized to the recipient by inscribing the person's name in the lower white portion of the glass. (not inscribed) The invitation is made of smoked glass and imprinted using fourteen karat gold, measures 6-3/4" x 8- 3/4". This is an extremely rare piece with only a few hundred produced.
