Description: 2021 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar 6-Coin Set (P, D, S, O, CC, and Peace) in United States Mint Original Government Packaging Sleeve/Box with Certificate of Authenticity (21XC – 21XH) U.S. Mint sets pictured are representative of the sets you will receive. In 2021, the U.S. Mint released the Morgan and Peace Dollar Anniversary Coins in recognition of the 100th anniversaries of the last year of minting of the Morgan Silver Dollar and the first year of minting of the Peace Silver Dollar. The conversion from the Morgan Dollar to the Peace Dollar design in 1921 reflected a pivotal moment in American history. The Morgan Dollar represented the country’s westward expansion and industrial development in the late 19th century. The Peace Dollar symbolized the country’s coming of age as an international power, as well as marking the peace between the U.S. and Germany after World War I. The Morgan Dollar was designed by Mint Chief Engraver George T. Morgan (1845-1925) and was minted from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. The Mint will produce the 2021 Morgan Dollar with an uncirculated finish in five versions to recognize the Mint facilities that minted the original coin. In December 1921, Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon approved the Peace Dollar to replace the Morgan Dollar. The Peace Dollar was designed by renowned sculptor Anthony de Francisci (1887-1964) and was minted until 1935. The Mint produced the 2021 Peace Dollar with an uncirculated finish and without a mint mark. This set includes six 2021 dated coins, five Morgan Dollars and one Peace Dollar. Each coin is crafted from 26.686 grams Troy oz. of .999 fine silver (a notable increase from the series' original 0.900 purity). The Morgan Dollars were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints. Morgan issues with O and CC privy marks celebrating the now defunct New Orleans and Carson City mints were produced in Philadelphia. The Peace Dollar is a product of the Philadelphia Mint. Each silver dollar measures 38.10 mm in diameter. The coins are minted with a spectacular Brilliant Uncirculated finish. Coins come in U.S. Mint packaging with Certificate of Authenticity. Product limit of each Morgan Dollar was 175,000 pieces. Product limit of the Peace Dollar was 200,000 pieces. Morgan Obverse: features Liberty in profile wearing a Phrygian cap and crowned with cotton blossoms and ears of wheat, symbolic of American agriculture. Morgan Reverse: an American eagle, with wings spread, clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its talons. A laurel wreath mostly surrounds the eagle. Peace Obverse: features Liberty in profile wearing a radiant coronet, designed by Anthony de Francisci, whose AF monogram appears at bottom. Peace Reverse: an American eagle rests on a rock, holding an olive branch above the inscription PEACE. Add the 2021 Morgan and Peace Dollar Set to your collection today! TERMS OF SALE 1.
