Printed by the Bank of England, these undated notes were issued with the signature of Chief Cashier Graham Edward Alfred Kentfield, between 1993 and 1998. This design was issued between 1993 and 2000 with two signatures. This was the first of the two. Graham Kentfield was Chief Cashier from 1991 until 1998 and was followed by Merlyn Lowther who was the first woman in the Bank's 300-year history to hold the position of Chief Cashier. From England, his lasting fame ranks only behind William Shakespeare. The Note: A circulated, written on twice note, it has a serious edge tear by the security thread and a single small pinhole.
