Description: 1976 Rolex President 1807 Diamond Dial & Bezel DayDate - 18k Vintage Watch For your consideration, a gorgeous 1976 Rolex Day-Date Ref 1807 (4.2M Serial) – arguably the most iconic watch on the planet, and being the Ref. 1807, the very first in its lineage. The Ref 1803 and 1807 are my particular favorite reference numbers of all Day-Date line, because it is the only one to carry the dynamic, pie-pan dial. If you look at the rim of the dial, it dips down, giving depth and layers to the dial. After the 1803/1807, they went to just a flat dial, which just isn’t the same in my opinion. The beautiful Day-Date before you here has a refinished black dial fitted with beautiful diamond indices. Under high magnification, you really can appreciate the beauty of this highly reflective dial -- it reflects the light in such a gorgeous way (which unfortunately also makes it extremely difficult to photograph well). The dial is framed by a custom (aftermarket) diamond bezel, complimenting perfectly the luster of the diamonds on the dial. The hands are in great condition with minimal loss to the lume. The oyster case is in wonderful condition with minor marks and wear commensurate with age (see photos). The movement is tight, winds and runs nicely, with complications crisply cycling as you would expect on a fine Swiss watch. No Day-Date is complete without the “I know that watch from 100 yards way” 18k solid gold, 3-link President bracelet, fit with the hidden clasp for a uniform, clean look throughout. The bracelet is an OEM, Rolex solid 18k gold bracelet with 53 end links and shows wear and stretch commensurate with age and use (see photos). A previous owner went through the costly process of having a jeweler perfectly match the factory bark finish on the center links throughout the bracelet's end links and case lugs. The result is a piece unique bark finish that truly sets this watch apart. The bracelet fits up to a 7 1/8” wrist, which accommodates most wrists (note, if you have a larger wrist, I have additional links for sale upon request).
