Description: A nice group including some scarce items--and all 5 items at well below typical retail selling price. If you collect spoons this is one of the more scarce ones from Century 21; I was quite surprised when I realized there were nearly a dozen different souvenir spoons. You often find competing souvenirs at fairs; 10-20 or more sellers see the opportunity and hope their creation is the one that stands out. Spoons were near the top of souvenirs collected in the '50s and '60s, along with thimbles, glasses and other small items decorated to remind the owner of the experience visiting the fair. I supsect the fairgoers who purchased one, or two or more small spoons also did the same elsewhere and at home had a wall or shelf display from dozens of tourist stops. Besides this enameled spoon the lot also includes what you could get by the handful in 1962 if you were so inclined--sugar packets or sugar cubes. Also included is a cute pendant or sweater pin, designed to be either, and like the spoon, this was but one of many different styles available for souvenir hunters. Finally, the 5th item in this group is not at all scarce like the others. The "21" pin was free along with the official guidebook when one purchased a ticket book that included dadmission to the expo and entrance to a whole bunch of attractions. . The story about the "21" lapel pins was that the Expo got them very cheaply. Some business or event, I was told, in the midwest, order a huge number of these and ended up with who knows, perhaps 100,000 extras. I'm afraid I don't know who originally needed the container load of "21" pins but I wouldn't want anyone to think I was calling this pin anything but common. But it's a nice addition to the grouping. Individual sugar packets or cubes can be found all across the board, generally at least $5 each. Or I did see one ebay seller discussing the rarity of a different packet of sugar. He had it listed on ebay for $1,500. I can't think of anything nice to say about that seller, who had to be one of the dumbest sellers around or perhaps gullible and had been told the packet of sugar was a real rarity. Opening bid for the five items is a bit lower than $1,500! You can assign the $18.99 buy it now price among the five items listed here. The following prices are about ONE HALF of the typical prices for each on ebay... say the spoon at $7, sugar cube & sugar packet each $3.50, pendant $5 and "21" logo let's say Zero. That is how I arrived at $18.99, assuming it was half the cost of them individually. And of course you can just bid the opening amount and hope to win them at even less. I have a very large inventory of C21 items from sets of medals to transit tokens, t-shirts to an array of pinbacks. If you are looking for something please let me know.
