Description: 1961 Press Photo Peter Bowers Tests Replica of Wright Brothers Biplane, Seattle This is an original press photo. Seattle, WA: Peter W.Bowers, 43, a Boeing Co.engineer, sits in the homemade replica of the 1911 Wright Brothers' biplane in which he hopes to retrace the route of the first cross-country airplane flight 50 years ago. Bowers expects to have a power plant installed and test fly the craft next week. This picture was made when he tested the plane as a glider 10-days ago. The first cross-country flight was completed November 5th, 1911. Because of impending weather, Bowers may have to postpone his flight to next year. Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 10-18-1961. Part Number: lrx81159 Please look at the images below carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition.
