Description: This tray was made before 1950s, probably in the 40s. This version is signed but not marked due to small legs on the backside. One of the legs also is also a hanger. The stalking lion is so cool and dangerous, moving fast with mouth open and ready to pounce. This particular tray is a smaller, lighter version and is meant for decoration as much as practical uses like holding cards, money and pins. The company, General Bronze Corporation, who made this tray was the premier bronze design and manufacturer in American during the first half the 20th century. They made the Seagram Building in NYC, the Prometheus and Atlas bronze sculptures at Rockefeller Center in NYC and the bronze doors for the United States Supreme Court among many other architectural marvels. This tray, in its humble place in the design history of industrial America, holds onto the wild character of nature and beast. The tray measures 7 1/2 X 5 inches and is 3/4 inch tall. It is signed "J Fisher."
