Description: 1939 Playball #112 PAUL "BIG POISON" WANER (HOF) - Removed from SGC slab - VG: Paul nicknamed "Big Poison" and his younger brother Lloyd "Little Poison" are both HOF'ers. Paul has a career .333 batting average, with 3,152 hits, 1927 NL MVP, 3-NL Batting Titles. In 1999, he was ranked number 62 on The Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players and was nominated as a finalist for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team. The Pittsburgh Pirates retired Paul's #11 in 2007. HISTORY: I have been collecting baseball cards for 57 years. I purchased this card and removed it from its SGC slab so I could display it in my card album to enjoy but kept the SGC grading sticker (see photo). CONDITION: The card is firm, has no creases, minor corner wear, the back of the card still has some gloss. SGC graded this a VG+ condition but is likely more a VG. It is in the same condition that it was in when I put it in my card album 10 years ago, and this is the first time it's been out of my album since then. Because of the hobby's occasional changing grading standards, I cannot guarantee it would be graded a VG+ again, but I think most any experienced collector would agree that it is a solid VG. Please look at the photos closely and judge for yourself. I do combine shipping on multiple items. See my other listings.
