Photo of "Chuck" Palmer, football and baseball hero of Northwestern University, whose prowess is known throughout the Big Ten, who is under fire in connection with the mysterious Leighton Mount death case in Chicago. Palmer was jailed on the evidence supplied by a Mrs. Bachman, his former fiance, who alleges Palmer told her shortly after young Mount disappeared that "he knew where he was and that he was safe, but could not tell more."
