Gorgeous and exceptional 'Battleship' $2 note, stained and pinholes comment. Note Features:* PCGS graded* FR# 754* Known as a Battleship Federal Reserve Bank Note* Signed by: Teehee | Burke* Seal Color: Blue Federal Reserve Bank Notes Small Federal Reserve Bank Notes were rapidly printed using pre-prepared sheets intended for the Series 1929 National Bank Notes. Issued in denominations ranging from $5 to $100, these notes feature brown seals and serial numbers, resembling the Series 1929 notes, and are marked “NATIONAL CURRENCY” at the top. Each note includes bold black letters designating the twelve Federal Reserve Districts, from "A" to "L," appearing four times on the front. The name of the issuing Federal Reserve Bank is prominently displayed in bold black type, taking the place of a National Bank’s name. Because these notes were printed on sheets initially designed for National Bank Notes, some adjustments were made during the final printing process. While National Bank Notes had designated spaces for the signatures of the individual bank President and Cashier, Federal Reserve Bank Notes featured a printed bar over these titles, with signatures from Federal Reserve Bank officials instead. Furthermore, the phrase “or by like deposit of other securities” was added after “Secured by United States bonds deposited with the Treasurer of the United States of America” to reflect the different backing for these notes compared to National Bank Notes. Production of Federal Reserve Bank Notes ceased in 1934. While they still function as legal tender, they are seldom encountered in circulation today. Although printed in large quantities over a brief period, these notes are not deemed rare. They were typically not preserved at the time, making them hard to find in good condition. Nevertheless, they are fascinating artifacts from one of the most critical economic crises of the last century, and assembling a complete set by district can be an enjoyable challenge for collectors. This is an excellent note to add to your collection. Add this note to your cart today!
