The Farmers Bank was founded when the Bucks County businessmen in Hulme Ville, PA (18 miles from Philadelphia as indicated on each note) created their own bank, with the Banks 1st president being John Hulme. In 1817, Pennsylvania banned bank notes by State chartered banks in denominations under $5, so many of the uncirculated notes were placed in secure storage, and as a result, the condition of the notes are as good when discovered 200 years later. These are uncirculated and therefore not signed or dated other than "181_". These are a piece of Philadelphia History circa 1800.
