Description: This auction is for a lot of 16 vintage black and white photos, recently found in Berlin, Germany, of handsome young men / males participating in team Canoe / Crew or Shell boat rowing sport / competition, at what appears to be a rowing club, known by Germans as a Ruderclub. Based on limited research, the logo on the uniforms is related to "Empor Bernburg eV", which is a sports club (more info about the club below) founded after WW 2, located on the Saale River, about 38 kilomoters upstream of city of Bernburg, in the district town of Salzlandkreis, in the heart of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Four photos show men rowing (1 at a distance), and the others appear to be guys participating in exercise, or just participating in horseplay. These undated photographs appear to be from approximately from 1949 to mid 1950s, taken in the former "East" Germany (GDR / DDR). The photos are in good vintage condition, with no tears, stains, or creases, except for 1 photo, of shirtless males, being in poor condition, with multiple creases (see last photo). The photos range in size from 4 1/4 inches x 3 inches down to 3 1/2 inches x 2 1/4 inches. The photos may be of water sports, rowing, or gay interest. Shipping to all United States addresses is through the USPS as Ground Advantage or Priority Mail, your choice at checkout. No international shipping. Please review my eBay feedback and bid with confidence. Please note: Photos come from a non-smoking home, but due to age, some do have a subtle old smell. More about Empor Bernburg eV: After the war, these two houses were handed back to the municipality after a very eventful history. Many canoeists then returned to their old homes, which they had partly helped to build many years ago. As a result, three clubs were able to practice water sports again from 1949 onwards. In the first year of its existence, the Bernburg athletes could be proud of their successes. In addition to the competitive disciplines, the touring cyclists' division also developed further. It is thanks to the ambition of the athletes and the guidance of the trainers that not only district and regional champions, but even world champions later emerged from our club. A new phase began in 1956, when three canoeing sections joined together to form a club called BSG Empor Bernburg . A dividing fence was torn down and the sports facilities were expanded with joint efforts. Another sports group was formed and, almost 50 years later, still exists today as a women's gymnastics group.
