The 14th Virginia Cavalry Regiment was organized in September, 1862, with nine companies, some of which had previously served in Jackson’s Squadron Virginia Cavalry. The tenth company was made up of surplus men of the other companies. The unit was attached to Jenkins’, Echol’s, and McCausland’s Brigade. The regiment skirmished in western Virginia, and then saw action at Droop Mountain and Lewisburg. In 1864 the 14th Cavalry continued fighting in western Virginia and then took part in operations in Early’s Shenandoah Valley campaign. They disbanded in April 1865. Contains a full annotated roster of the regiment!
