Description: Description: 12 volumes (vols 1-12) of the 13 volume Green set, covering the entire Hebrew Bible, Pentateuch, or the Torah. This is Series 3 (Green Set), the last set printed which has an entirely new set of thought provoking thoughts and ideas then the previous series. This is the first edition & first impression set printed in 2011. Please note that this set is missing just one volume, volume 13, the last book in the series. These volumes are all hardcover volumes. These books and its contents will give the familiar or the totally unfamiliar or novice in Bible study, a great sampling of the mode of study practiced by the ancient Pharisees down to its modern day representatives, Orthodox Judaism's version and style of exegesis to the Old Testament Bible. Culled from a wide range of religious personalities' views and explanations, spanning from the earliest Midrash (Around 200 A.D.) down through to the famous medieval commentaries such as Rashi (Isaacides), Ramban (Nacmanides), Radak (David Kimhi), Ralbag (Gersonides) and culminating with the commentators and expounders of the last two centuries, including pretty much some contemporary personalities, such as Rabbis Moses Feinstein and M. M. Schneerson. It will give the uninitiated an especially fascinating and eye-opening panoramic view of this very long biblical tradition. The set is split up according to the 50 or so sections which the Torah is divided into in accordance with the standard Jewish custom of reading the entire Torah in the synagogue out loud every week of the 50 week yearly Jewish calendar. So each week's portion has a name (The name is usually the first meaningful word of that week's portion) and then in this book the ideas for that week are split up into 7 days, so that you can adhere to the calendar by doing a set portion every day. The idea is that at the end of the year you will have completed the entire Pentateuch and become pretty much a savant and very familiar with this creative way of thinking about the Bible. The general editor for this series, as always, was Rabbi Yosaif Asher Weiss. In the words of the publishers themselves this is organized as ' A Torah theme for every day of every week, from all areas of Torah literature, collected for daily study.' Condition: These volumes are in excellent, LikeNew condition. There is no writing or defacement to any volume's interior or covers.
